Kristen & Sean

A gorgeous destination wedding on the sands of Portugal....

Featured on Carats & Cake

It was our pleasure to create this simple, moody suite for Kristen and Sean's wedding at Areias Do Seixo in A Dos Cunhados, Portugal.  Evoke did an absolutely gorgeous job designing the intimate wedding and Kristen's beautiful pale blue gown was a perfect fit for their destination wedding.

Here are some more lovely shots from Nicole and Matt's gorgeous stable wedding!  See the whole feature on Style Me Pretty here!

Nicoles invitations and save the dates were all hand marbled on thick cotton paper then printed in copper foil.  Her invitation had both marbled details as well as the pales of blush washes.  Each invitation suite was tied together with hand frayed navy silk ribbon, tucked inside a marble lined pale grey envelope and sealed with a custom wax seal.  All her menus featured the same pale blush wash and their wax seal at the top of each menu.  Each guests' place card was a hexagon on the same hand marbled paper, daintily tied onto a copper mug.  The rest of the reception details featured lots of carrera marble, such as the marble hexagon table numbers with copper lettering.

For her programs, we bound white cotton paper with embroidery string in a perfect shade of French blue.  Her escort cards bore her large, 2" custom wax seal on pale blue paper, with her guest names in pale gold.

It's Monday morning and I'm greeted by a featured post of my work on Oh So Beautiful Paper!  That's a perfect way to start a week!  You can view the featured post here!

Working with Marina from Bustle Events, we designed this suite for an elopement celebration, using the phrase “we fell in love, so we ran away” as the theme. We really wanted to embrace the destination aspect of the celebration, tying in natural edges and shades of blue.  The invitation itself announces their elopement and invites guests to join them at the bride’s parents home upon their return home. We really loved the idea of using paper with a raw edge and choose to go with handmade 100% cotton rag paper from Fabulous Fancy Pants. We paired the handmade paper with slooping brush lettering, and paired it with a formal serif font.

I also hand painted a large piece of artwork for the bride in monochromatic blues, and used that artwork to be printed as their envelope liners. Each invitation suite was wrapped in hand dyed, hand frayed silk ribbon and tucked into a crisp white cotton envelope.  The cocktail menus were printed on the same 100% cotton rag paper and featured a “his & hers” signature cocktail. We also created a larger scale artwork piece of the quote we used in the suite featuring the couple’s wax seal.

One of my favorite clients (I say 'favorite' but all my clients are pretty fricken awesome!), Miss Jess Galfo, fashion blogger of Dressed by Jess and blogger bride at Style Me Pretty met up with her completely fab event designer to have a sit down recently to chat about style, paper, and all details weddings!  Paige from Gilded Lily Events is working with Jess on her wedding design, and I have the pleasure of creating her paper pieces for her.  They cozied up in Paige's darling office to pour over paper options, printing methods and wedding details.  The lovely afternoon was then shot by Love & Light Photography and was featured on Style Me Pretty today!  Jess turned the tables a bit and put on her hat as blogger and picked Paige's brain a bit about owning a wedding design company and working with clients.  Check out her full interview the rest of the gallery

From Paige:

There are plenty of ways to showcase your personality on your wedding day, but what elements are the most important?

I truly believe that love is in the details. However, couples can easily get weighed down by all of these “little” things. I like to remind brides-to-be that it is important to really zoom in on the areas that will make the most impact. If you think back on a picture of a wedding that you loved, you probably didn’t notice everything that was going on around it. Focus on what is the most important and highlight it. For an overall beautiful, cohesive look, I believe the flowers and paper goods are the most important elements. They carry the wedding day story and are usually the first and last thing that your guests will take note of.

Invitations are the guests’ first peek at the formality of the wedding along with the type of event being thrown. How can brides keep them creative, yet cohesive?

Save the Dates and invitations are the first connections that your guests will have with your wedding and it sets the tone for what to expect for your day. Before you send out your invitations, make sure you have a good idea of the color palette and key design elements that you are going to use throughout your wedding day. Custom invitations are the way to go and are not just a luxury item. Be clear with your graphic designer or artist of what you want and how they can work within your budget to make your invitation dreams come true.

A bit earlier this year, a project I collaborated was featured on 100 Layer Cake!  It was a pleasure to collaborate with Emily Wren on this moody project.

The invitations were a gorgeous, deep aubergine, watercolor washed plum and featured coordinating hand marbled paper as the envelope liners.  The over the top flourished calligraphy was printed in white foil and then addressed in matching calligraphy.

Michelle Leo of Michelle Leo Events is one of the amazing leaders in our industry, so when she approached me to create a suite for her bride, Sara, I was honored!  The suite we created is one of my all time favorites (I know I say that a lot, but how could I possibly pick a true favorite?!).

We wanted to keep the suite classic, elegant, and interesting with some texture and gold.  The suite was printed in gold foil on 220lb stock in a pale ivory and a textured aubergine.  The main invitation was adorned with antique lace appliqued in the corners, each hand cut from a larger lace piece (on the plus side, it didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would!).  The envelopes were both lined with pale fall leaves and the suite was tied up with thin velvet ribbon.  The aubergine envelopes were then addressed in flourished gold, and into the post they went!

The overall wedding was simply spectacular and it was such a joy to work with such an amazing team!

For the menus, we kept with the moody aubergine stock - we loved the way the color stood out against the taupe linens.  The main lettering was all done by hand in calligraphy, then mixed with a classic and clean block type.  The place cards continued the moody color scheme with each guests name in flourished gold ink.

The second horoscope project I had the pleasure of pairing with Flutter Magazine on was the Taurus horoscope.

APRIL 20 — MAY 20: You love to keep things simple, but you also enjoy the luxuriousness of fine items. Splurge on a simple custom-made lace dress on your special day. Add elements of nature into your décor by using fruits for fun coloring. With earth being your zodiac element, utilize woods for texture to compliment the citrus on your tables. Gift your husband a leather embossed wallet on your wedding day (Will Leather Goods has a great selection!). He will carry it with him everywhere he goes. Set your sights on Costa Rica for an unforgettable honeymoon adventure.

It was such a pleasure to work with Flutter Magazine on their 6th issue.  We took each horoscope and designed a tablescape around the traits associated with each sign.  Flutter Magazine complied an amazing group of designers and photographer to bring the shoot to life.

OCTOBER 23 — NOVEMBER 21: We are drawn to you, Scorpio bride. You are magnetic and irresistible. Be sure to emphasize your fiery spirit with bright colors on your tables and invitations. Utilize your lucky gem, the Garnet, to add a pop of color to your own attire. Peonies draped on your cake will make your guests gasp. The lush peony can spice up your bridesmaids bouquets too. Be sure to include elements of lace in your veil and dress. We suggest you jet off to Spain for your honeymoon.

I had the pleasure of working with Luica and David, along with Joseba Sandoval of Sandoval Studio Photography and Romance Weddings to create this luscious and romantic wedding held at a private villa in Spain.  I was approached by Joseba to meet with his bride who was looking for something lush, organic, blush and peach, and intimate.  The villa created a private retreat for their small wedding and their over the top florals were perfectly framed by the architecture of the space.

For their stationery (which will have more details posting this week), I created a pattern based on the Spanish tile that was featured through out the villa.  I paired that with the fluffy garden roses and ranunculus used throughout their florals.  We choose to keep the calligraphy contemporary to reflect the couples style, and wrapped the suite in antique lace.  I added touches of rose gold by hand to each invitation suite, and I still swoon over the final pieces.  The brides pale peach gown was just to die for!

Featured...Style Me Pretty Living!

I've begun offering some sort of little holiday goodie in the form of a free downloadable and printable pieces, and our Mother's Day printables are featured on Style Me Pretty Living today!  You can check out the entire post here.

The collection of designs feature calligraphy and hand lettering, as well as springy yellow floral pieces.  You can download the designs through the Studio Shoppe here!  I did feature one design that was lettering only as well, in case anyone wants to keep it simple.  For the Style Me Pretty feature, the designs were paired with envelopes from Paper Source in their colors Curry, Leaf and Chartreuse.   I also paired the pieces with some vintage stamps from my own collection for a little added detail (little known fact, did you know that I have an extensive stamp collection?).  Enjoy!
